Emberwood Tales
Emberwood Tales is the offline RPG I keep coming back to. You play a healer with no combat training, which flips the usual power fantasy on its head. Instead of grinding for weapons, you gather herbs, learn recipes, and slowly earn the trust of villagers who've lost everything. The writing is quiet and warm without being sappy.
Combat exists but it's optional and turn-based, so you can lean into the story if fighting isn't your thing. Character growth is tied to relationships as much as stats. Every save is stored on your device, and I finished a full chapter on a weekend with the router unplugged just to be sure.
It runs smoothly even on my three-year-old phone. The art is hand-drawn and the soundtrack is gentle enough to play late at night. If you want an RPG with heart rather than loot spreadsheets, start here.
